What it does
PriceWise watches product pages for you. Paste a link and it reads the current price, keeps a price history, and emails you when something worth knowing happens. More than 500 people have used it to track over 10,000 products.
How it is built
- Scraping. Product pages are fetched with Axios and parsed with Cheerio to pull out the title, image and price.
- Storage. MongoDB holds every product and its price history.
- Scheduled checks. A cron route re-scrapes every tracked product and updates its history, lowest and highest price.
- Email alerts. Nodemailer sends a welcome email when you start tracking, then an alert when a product hits its lowest price, comes back in stock, or drops past a discount threshold.
- Interface. Next.js and Tailwind CSS, with a carousel of trending products on the home page.
